About

Who I am

I am Kumar Ashish, a Software Engineer, currently in Bangalore, India.

What I do

I am working on Observability at Atlassian. We are currently exploring Grafana/Mimir for high cardinality metrics ingestion. I am also looking for opportunities to improve developer productivity in my org. Day-to-day, I am on the lookout for how I can leverage AI to generate better results.

How I got here

I graduated from IEM, Kolkata in 2019 and was part of the first batch of Scaler Academy (April, 2019). My first role was at Mindtickle, Pune where I mostly helped refactor and rebuild some of the existing stuff they had. Then I moved to CRED in 2021, and did some of my best work building services for credit card management. I stayed at CRED for 4.5 years and now I am at Atlassian.

What I care about

I love to see well-written code, it’s like music to my ears. But more than how code is written, it’s the impact of it which matters a lot to me. I like working with a plan towards the future, where my previous work lays foundation for my next. I love discussing problems around scale, and coming up with the most cost-effective solution.

This blog

With AI, I feel like I am doing so much more, so I want to begin contributing actively to open source. It may be to some existing projects, or some projects of my own. I started this blog to share my musings around what I found interesting while working in general.

Outside of work

I like watching football and playing video games occasionally. Sometimes I pick up a book, my current favorite read is The Book Thief. I absolutely love to travel, and my wife loves it too.
